We collaborate with corporations, universities, high schools, and community agencies to enhance recruiting by examining traditional recruiting, training and on-boarding practices to help companies to employ work-ready neurodiverse talent.  Specialisterne USA works to ensure every neurodiverse person who wants a job, gets a job.

How to Apply

The application process for the Specialisterne Informational Workshops and for the Assessment Program is managed by Specialisterne USA.

Informational Workshops

The Informational Workshops will be conducted so applicants can be introduced to Specialisterne’s Assessment process as well as Goldman Sachs and the positions that are available as part of this program.

Candidates must bring:

  • Written autistic or other neurodiverse diagnosis
  • A sample of a coding project completed previously (for example using Git)

Three-Week Specialisterne Assessment

Those demonstrating appropriate interest and aptitude at the Informational Workshops may be invited to take an online coding exercise and participate in a three-week skills evaluation and assessment program at Goldman Sachs offices.  The slots available as part of this assessment are limited. All transportation and accommodations will be paid by each individual participant. 

During the three-week assessment, applicants for this pilot program will be evaluated, assessed and selected according to the standard Specialisterne methodology, while becoming familiar with Goldman Sachs.

Please note:  Candidates who successfully complete the Specialisterne USA Assessment will be able to add Agile Scrum and the Specialisterne Work Ready Certification to their resumes. 

A committee of Specialisterne, Goodwill of NYNJ and Goldman Sachs employees will make the selection of the candidates for 8-week Goldman Sachs Internship Program. Successful candidates will be invited to join the internship on a contingency basis— they must pass a drug and security clearance test.

Those not selected for this assessment may elect to continue working with Specialisterne and Goodwill of NYNJ, the community partner, in identifying alternative roles, programs and employment opportunities.

PAID 8-Week Goldman Sachs Internship

The Goldman Sachs Neurodiversity Hiring Initiative, an eight-week paid internship program for people who identify as neurodiverse, aims to empower and integrate neurodiverse people into our workplace.  Through robust training, coaching and mentoring, the program will position participants for the long-term career path that they deserve.

The Neurodiversity Hiring Initiative is an example of our fervent commitment to cultivating a work experience where all of our people can realize their full potential and thrive as their authentic selves.

This is a paid 8-week internship, with all travel and accommodation to be covered by the candidates.

Job Profiles and Descriptions

Profile #1: Full-stack Engineer

Entry Level Engineer

We design and build scalable web platforms that provide access to Goldman Sachs content, portfolio analytics, risk, and execution services.  These tools help to transform and simplify client experiences while generating new revenue streams and business models for a leader in global financial markets.

Entry Level Software Developer

Our team of engineers builds solutions to the most complex problems. We develop cutting-edge systems and processes that form the core of our key business and enable transactions to move in milliseconds. Engineers have the opportunity to work at the forefront of technology and make significant contributions to the field.

Entry Level Digital Advice Software Developer

We provide innovative investment solutions to help our clients meet their financial goals. From private wealth to asset management, we work with specialists and groups from around the firm to help individuals and institutions across various industries navigate changing markets and make smart investments. We deliver automation financial solutions for consumers.

Entry Level Java/Web Stack Developer

We conduct risk analysis to help protect the firm and our clients from information and cyber security risks. We equip the firm with the knowledge and tools to measure risk, identify and mitigate threats and protect against unauthorized disclosure of confidential information for our clients, internal business functions, and our extended supply chain.

Entry Level Collaboration Developer

Our innovation in web, mobile, social collaboration, and user experience is changing the way we collaborate with our clients and with each other. We design and deliver great products that satisfy the firm’s business needs and achieve adoption.

Skills and experience we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Object oriented or functional analysis and design skills
  • Basic database experience
  • Programming in a modern language such as Java, C#, JavaScript or Python

Nice to have

  • Experience or interest in agile methodologies
  • JavaScript, Mongo DB, or Java 8 & 9
  • Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and designing for efficiency
  • Experience or interest in writing SQL on a modern RDBMS
  • Web UI development experience (React and/or Angular)

Profile #2: User Experience Engineer

Entry Level Web Application Developer

We are looking for web developers to play a key role in designing, developing and enhancing the firm’s standard UI framework and its associated products that aim to standardize the experience of web, desktop and mobile applications for a variety of businesses at Goldman Sachs, including Legal, Compliance and Audit.

The developers will work with designers to conceptualize and build components and patterns that will be offered as part of the UI framework to application teams across the firm. They will be involved in constant and consistent improvement of the framework by researching and learning new trends and technologies. The developers will work on building several applications and tools that support and enhance the framework. They should be open to learning how to be innovative, analytical and a problem solver.

Skills and experience we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math.
  • Web UI development experience (React and/or Angular) 
  • Strong interest in developing rich web UI with HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Familiarity or interest in JavaScript QA testing
  • Familiarity or interest in UI packaging tools
  • Enjoy building analytical skills and practicing abilities to break down and communicate complex issues, ideas and solutions

Nice to have

  • Experience working with ES6 and responsive frameworks – for example, Bootstrap
  • Experience with server-side JavaScript – for example, ExpressJS, NodeJS, and NPM
  • Familiarity with SQL or NoSQL databases – for example, Elastic Search
  • Attention to detail and an understanding of user-centered design

Profile #3: Quality Assurance Tester

Entry Level Quality Management Engineer/Tester

The Quality Management team is responsible for ensuring the software that powers our consumer finance platform is defect-free and automated and is able to meet both the user experience and performance needs of our customers. We view testing to be a core technical competency and fundamental to our success. If you love testing code, then this is the job for you.

We are looking to fill positions across multiple applications teams with:

  • Candidates experienced as SDETs (Software Development Engineer in Test) or those who are willing to learn when it comes to test automation.
  • We are looking for people who can deliver cutting edge test automation solutions that have a direct impact on increasing the quality of our products, while decreasing the time it takes to test them.

Skills and experience we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math.
  • Working knowledge with a modern programming language, such as Java or Python with the interest to build new automation framework with existing coding knowledge.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, able to apply knowledge and experience in decision-making to arrive at creative and commercial solutions with a strong desire to learn and contribute solutions and ideas.
  • A problem solver with a keen eye for details and a strong desire to learn.
  • Test Engineer interested in creating automation solutions for both UI and API.
