Specialisterne USA

Specialisterne USA is a non-profit social enterprise that pioneered the Autism @ Work movement in the US. We collaborate with corporations, universities, high schools, and community agencies to enhance recruiting by examining traditional recruiting, training and on-boarding practices to help companies to employ work-ready neurodiverse talent.  Specialisterne USA works to ensure every neurodiverse person who wants a job, gets a job.

The Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC)

The Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC) is an internationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to autism researcheducation, evidence-based treatment, and community outreach. They are one of the only autism organizations in the world that provides a lifetime of services for individuals and their families while also conducting cutting edge research. 

Program Overview

Throughout the course of the 12 week internship experience, you’ll receive formal and informal mentorship and training.  Deloitte’s intern training program provides a view both into the technical skills as well as critical professional behaviors, standards, and mindsets required to make the most of your internship. The program includes a variety of team-based, hands-on exercises and activities. Beyond the formal training, you will work with talented consulting professionals, granting you access to ask questions and gain valuable real world experience while working on client engagements.

The assessment program will take place in 310 East Rivulon Boulevard, Gilbert, AZ 85297, which is where the roles will be based.

Application and Selection Process

Applying for this autism@work program means you are self-identifying as autistic and successful candidates will be a part of the Deloitte’s Autism@Work program.

How to Apply

The application process for the Specialisterne Informational Workshops and for the Assessment Program is managed by Specialisterne USA.

Informational Workshops

The Informational Workshops will be conducted so applicants can be introduced to Specialisterne’s Assessment process as well as Salesforce and the positions that are available as part of this program.  

Candidates must bring:

  • Written autistic diagnosis

Four-Week Specialisterne Assessment

During the 4-week assessment, applicants for this  program will be evaluated, assessed and selected according to the standard Specialisterne methodology. The Informational Workshops will be conducted so applicants can be introduced to Specialisterne’s Assessment process as well as Deloitte and the positions that are available as part of this program.

Those demonstrating appropriate interest and aptitude at the workshops may be invited to participate in a four-week skills evaluation and assessment program in Phoenix, AZ. The slots available as part of this assessment are limited.

A committee of Specialisterne and Deloitte employees will make the selection of the candidates for the 4-week assessment. Those not selected for this assessment may elect to continue working with Specialisterne and the community partner in identifying alternative roles, programs and employment opportunities.

This is an unpaid four-week evaluation; however successful completion can be added to your resume.

If successful, a three-month internship may be offered, where you will be paid the same rate of the full-time position.  At the end of the three-months, a determination will be made by Deloitte as to whether full-time position will be offered.

Job Profiles and Descriptions 

Deloitte Consulting – Systems Development and Administration

Location: Gilbert, AZ

As an intern you’ll be working with an experienced team learning to develop and implement software and/or technology solutions.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in progress or completed in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, IT Security, IT Operations/Administration, Mathematics
  • Strong academic track record (minimum GPA of 3.0)
  • Possible travel up to 20% of the time
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of systems and/or software development principles and hands-on programming experience strongly desired (e.g., Java, .NET, Python, Salesforce, HTML, JavaScript)
  • Ability to accurately build and test code with tools like Junit, Apache JMeter, and SQL scripts.

Deloitte Consulting – Analytics

Location: Gilbert, AZ

As an intern, you’ll be working with an experienced team learning to develop and implement analytics solutions to translate data into actionable insights.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in progress or completed in Analytics, Data Science, Math/Statistics, Computer Science, Machine Learning
  • Strong academic track record (minimum GPA of 3.0)
  • Possible travel up to 20% of the time
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

Nice to Have:

  • Experience or interest in business intelligence, analytics and data warehousing, visualization or with specific ETL tools (e.g., Tableau, SQL, Informatica, Qlikview, Python/R, Hadoop distributions, robotics, and statistical modeling tools)
