Learn how to take your autistic and other neurodiverse student’s passions and talents and develop them to create a realistic career plan and profile report.
Learn how to take your autistic and other neurodiverse student’s passions and talents and develop them to create a realistic career plan and profile report through a four week WRaP (Workplace Readiness and Preparation) Bootcamp. Each module is designed to cultivate excellence in your Pre-Employment Transition Services delivery by providing training in the Specialisterne Competence Model, the Specialisterne Physical and Psychological Learning and Working Environment, the Dandelion Learning and Management Concepts and Training and Assessment. You will learn how to work with your students to discover their individual skills, talents and passions through job exploration counselling, integrated work based learning experiences, exploration of post secondary educational programs, social skills and team building and self-advocacy training.
From a WRaP workshop teacher after delivering the WRaP Workshop: “I’m motivated to find ways to make my classroom emphasize the higher learning order questions (versus the lower fact/recall level of knowledge); I’m motivated to make the class more student driven, to present them with a challenge and see how they independently go about discovering a solution and dealing with setbacks; I’m more motivated to create more authentic, real world challenges and pose more authentic, real world questions. The specific elements of the month that inspired this were the checklists, the bug/debug challenge, and the use of the SCRUM and sprint in teams.”
When you complete this course, you’ll have the tools you need to position you and your school to create real and lasting change for your students.
