Cognoa’s mission is to provide every child with earlier access to behavioral health diagnoses and personalized treatments – so that all children reach their full potential.

In the United States, 12.5 million children – 1 in 6 kids – have a developmental disability. Early diagnosis increases the effectiveness of treatment; however, less than half of all children under the age of 3 are screened for developmental delays. The average lag time between a parent’s initial concern and a diagnosis of autism or other developmental condition is around 13 months. As a result, the average age of a child being diagnosed by a specialist is 4.1 years, beyond the primary window of brain plasticity when interventions have the greatest impact.

Cognoa’s first application has been clinically validated to identify Autism as early as 18 months of age. Determined by the FDA to be a medical device, it is the first to enable diagnosis of Autism in a primary care setting, alleviating current barriers to receiving care from behavioral specialists.

Now, with Cognoa’s software, primary care doctors can make a preliminary diagnosis of Autism and other behavioral delays 1-3 years earlier than the current  standard of care. Children can begin therapeutic interventions sooner, between the ages of 2 and 5, when they have the greatest potential for improved lifelong outcomes.

Cognoa is working towards a future where every child benefits from early developmental and behavioral screening, where early intervention prevails, healthcare costs decrease, and everyone, everywhere has access to accurate diagnostics and personalized therapeutics.
